The Grass Withers, The Flower Fades . . .

A fitting passage for such a dry summer . . .

A voice says, “Cry!”
And I said, “What shall I cry?”
All flesh is grass,
and all its beauty is like the flower of the field.
The grass withers, the flower fades
when the breath of the LORD blows on it;
surely the people are grass.
The grass withers, the flower fades,
but the word of our God will stand forever.

Isaiah 40:6-8 (ESV)

Update:

No less than 30 minutes after my first post, we received the first rain in nearly a month. I guess this passage is pertinent as well:

For land that has drunk the rain that often falls on it, and produces a crop useful to those for whose sake it is cultivated, receives a blessing from God.

Hebrews 6:7 (ESV)

 . . . and what a blessing it is.

Here’s a cool picture of the storm coming in. Check out that cloud ridge!
